A CHANCE YET
GOLDING AND THE-GAMES
The non-selection of the flue New South Wales athlete G. A. Golding for the Australian team to compete at the British Empire Games in Canada in August caused surprise to many he delighted in New Zealand during his recent tour, particularly in view of the consistently good times ho registered. Since returning to Australia Golding has maintained the form shown in New Zealand, and, incidentally, he has challenged H. A. Bascombe (Victoria), who has been preferred to him in the Australian team for the Games, to a test over 440 .yards; A well-known Sydney sporting journal to hand this week reports that the Kensington Amateur Athletic Club, supported by the Mayor and Aldermen of Kandwick, and prominent citizens, is endeavouring to raise sufficient funds to cover the expenses of Golding, contingent upon hia inclusion in tho Australian team. This was decided upon at a public mooting, and it is stated (■hat'thero is every reason to anticipate the amount required will be forthcoming. '
