SPEEDWAY RACING
'"£ TO-NIGHT'S MEETING.
The events ;to■ be .decided at the Kilbirnie Stadium Speedway, to-night will be the same as those which were to have been held 'on Saturday night. At the outset of the meeting Frank Pearce, the brilliant Australian : speedway rider, will make an attempt to beat the record standing to the credit of C. Spinks—four laps from a flying start in lmin 20ses. It was Pearce who some months ago set up a. world's record, and since he has been in New Zealand this'rider has broken the records at Auckland and at Christchurch. ' His record-breaking attempt tonight is to be made at 8 o'clock. Another event of ■ outstanding.-order will be the international scratch race of three heats and a final. In this the New Zealanders, Wally Kilmister, 'Eddie Naylor, Tim Wilkinson, Peter M'Ghee, and Bill Harvie, will be ' put to the test against the noted Australians, Frank Pearce, Max Graham, Lionel van Praag, and Erie Whittle. The racing. between these well-, known riders should' be very thrilling.' They will all be tested,to the full in the first division handicap, and there should also", be keen racing in the second division handicap, while the' contest for the Silver Gauntlet is expected to be one of the most interesting events of the programme. The outlook for the meeting is very bright, and there ■ should be much broadsiding of an attractive order. Other information regarding to-night's meeting is published elsewhere in this issue. '
