\NEW DUTY OF 900 PER CENT.

SYDNEY, 15th December,

New tariff anomalies have produced what is believed to be record Customs duties. A city firm importing scientific glassware had'to pay £375 duty on a consignment to cover glasses valued at £40, tho duty thus .amounting to 900 per cent. On a lot of microscopic slides, valued at £35, £132 duty had to be paid.
