WEDDINGS

The wedding was solemnised recently at St. Mary of the Angels' Church, Boulcott street, of Mary Margaret (Mollie), eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. Kelly, of Wellington, to Douglas, second son of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Burns, also of Wellington. A choral nuptial mass was celebrated (this being the first of its kind held at St. Mary of the Angels), the Bey. Father Mahoney officiating. Bey. Dr. M'Eae and Fathers Stewart and M'Hardy were also present on the altar. The choir honoured the bride, who is their contralto soloist, by rendering Weigand's "Mass," and the Motet "O Sacrum Convivium." Mrs. G. P. Aldridge presided at the organ. The bridu entered the church with her father, wearing a frock of ivory crepe satin, cut on medieval lines, with which she wore a gold cross suspended from a long gold cord. The plain tullu veil was simply arranged, and caught on each side with clusters of orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of lilies and stephanotis, also an ivory-bound prayer book. The four bridesmaids were Misses Eileen Kelly, Joan Burns, Monica Kelly, and Norah Burns. The former two were in briar rose, and the latter two in apple green mariette. The frocks had flared and frilled skirts, the bodices being plain and tight-fit-ting, with flare and frilled sleeves. Their hats were of a picture type, in crinoline to tone with the frocks. They carried bouquets of pink roses, also ivory bound prayer books. Dr. C. B. Burns, of New Plymouth, and Mr. B. A. Burns were best man and groomsman respectively. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Adolphi Cabaret. The bride's mother, in a black mariette and lace frock, with black silk coat and black and lemon Bankok hat, received the guests. Mrs. A. D. Burns wore figured crepe de chend frock and navy coat and Bankok hat. Among the guests were: Eev. Fathers Mahoney and Mcßae, Mr. and Mrs. S. Jackson (Blenheim), and Miss K. Kelly (Dannevirke). The bride and bridegroom left later for a tour, the bride wearing a dainty frock of floral georgette in shades of pink and blue, with Mary blue crepe de chine coat and beige hat to tone.
