ARTCRAFT THEATRE.
Victor Jl'Laglea, Lois Moran, and Kiel; Stewart have the chief roles in the fine drama "The River. Pirate," which is at present being shown at the Artcraft Theatre. It is the story of a youth who is committed to a reform schuol, where ho is officially taught sailmaking, but learns the workings of the underworld as well. His instructor, a hard-boiled sailor, is paroled, helps the boy escape, and they join in piracy on a large scale, haunting the drab coves of the waterfront, slipping in. and out of huge warehouses and disposing of their stolen material to dishonest dealers, :vet always fearing the harbour police with whom they encage in many thrilling battles of wit anil body. The younger boy falls in love with the daughter of their nemesis, a detective, and in the end she regenerates him.
