ORIGINAL POETRY.
THE HOME RULE. Mr Gladstone might now gain this great agitation. For it is well he explained about the times that have passed, He might get the Home Rule for Ireland, and make it a nation, Though she is bound in chains long, they will bo broken at last. But the dav will soon come when it’s got in a jiffey, They can make their own laws then, and have no more row, Then a Parliament House will be bnilt on the Liffey, But the Conservative party will not agree to that now. When Dublin is headquarters, it is then it will flourish, They might have their own members that will spend money free, What a number of people more than it would nourish, They might keep down landlords, and have no more tyranny. It is only right that Ireland should get what is wanted, And will not be content without her own autonomy, But whenever the Home Rule will be once granted. They will be more happy then, and live with economy. It is sixteen years now since the Home Rule was started, Though it is not got yet, it goes nearer 7 T each day. Many and many dear friends since then have parted That could not live at home without crossing the sea. W.S. Tinkers.
