It has, doubtless, appeared JJbefore, but no matter A lady much interrCsted in a certain church for which subscriptions were needed, wrote to the Duke, telling him that, fording sure that she might count on his well-known libera’ity, she had put him down for LOGO and hoped he would rend her a cheque. The Duko courteously replied that he was glad to know that she. thought so will of him; ho, too.
was building a church, an I was equally convinced that he might comt on her wellknown liberality to assist in the good work. He had, therefore, pub her name down for L2OO, “ and so,” he continued, “no money need pass between us.”
