A SUCCESSFUL SURGICAL OPERATION. I'lie American Ambassador at Vienna, Mr Kasson, has lately forwarded to Ms Government an interesting account of a remarkable surgical operation lately performed by . Professor Billioth, of Vienna, wuich, wonderful to tell, consisted in the removal of a portion of the human stomach, involving nearly one third of the ( organ—an 1, strange to say, tha patent recovered—the only successful operation of the kind ever performed. Tue disease for which this operation was performed was cancer of the stomach, attented with the following symtoms : -The appetite is quite poor. There is a peculiar indescribable distress in the stomach, a feeling that has been described as a faint "all yone" sensation; a sticky slime collects about tne teeth, especial'y in the morning, accompanied by an unpleasant taste. Foo I fails to satisfy this peculiar faint sensation ; but, on toecontiary, it appeals to aggravate the feeling. The eyes are saiikeu, tinged with yellow ; the ha Ids and feet become cold and sticky—a cold perspiration. The sufferers feel tired all the time, an I sleep does not seem to give rest. After a time tub patient becomei nervous and irritab e, gloomy his mind being tilled with «vi) fore--boilings. When rising suddenly from a recum lent position there is a dizzine s, a whist ing sensation, and he is obliged to grasp something firm to keep from falling, the b'Vcls costive, the skin dry and hot at times ; the blood becoming thick and stagnant, and does not circulate properly. After a time the patient spits up food soon after eating, sometimes in a sour and fermented condition, sometimes sweetish to the taste. Oftentimes there is a palpitation of the heart, aai the patient tears he may have heart disease. Towards the last .the patient is unaole to retain any food what ever, as the opening in the intestines becomes close, or nearly so. Although this disease is indeed alarming, sufferers with the above named symptoms should not feel nervous, for niue hundred and ninety uiuo cases out of a thousand have no cancer, but simply dyspepsia, a disease easily removed if treated in a proper manner. The safest and remedy for the diseise is Saigel’s Curative Syrup, a vegetable preparation sold by all chemists and medicine vendors, and by the proprietors, A. J \\ bite, (Limited), Loudon, England. This Syrup strikes at the very foundation of the d sease, and drives it out, root and branch, out of the system. Waterloo House, London >tile, Chiswick, February 17, ISB2. Messrs. White and Co , London. Gentlemen,—it is with great pleasure that I add my tes imony to the wonderful effects of “Seigel’s Syrup.” For years 1 have been suffering from biious attacksi which began with giddiness ; then a mist would come before my eyes, so that I should not be able to recognise anyone, or anything at a distance at a yard or two from my face. This would be followed by excessive trembling of my knees, so lb 11 could not stand without support; after which a severe headache would occur lasting over two or three days. I have tried variou- remedies for these distressing symptoms, but until I tried “ Seigel’s Syrup ” 1 had no relief. Since then I have have had exceeut health ina every respect, and if ever I fe-d a headache coming on I take one dose of the Syrup, which arrests it. Hoping that this testimonial may be the means of inducing others (who suffer as I used) to try tie Syrup, as I feel sure ;aey will receive speedy henelit and ultimately be c ired, 1 beg to remain, yours faithfully, A. H. Hortok. September Stb, 18315. Dear Sir, —1 find the sale of Seigel’a Syrup steadily increasing. All who liava triad it speaks very highly of its medicinal virtues : one customer describes it as a “Godsend to dyspeptic people.” I always recommend it with confidence. Faithfully yours, (Signed) Vincent A. Wills, Chemist-dentist, To Mr A. J. White. Merthyr Tydvil.
