The scoEmg-race between Edward Han lan', ‘of Toronto, Canada, and William Reach, of Sydney, fur LSOO aside and the championship of the world, took place today over_ the regular course on the Parra*, matte Giver. The weather was magnifi..cent. The water was slightly rough. A splendid start was effected, and ii dead level positions maintained for tbo first quarter ..of- a mile. Hanlan then forged ahead, and when s mile and a-half had been covered was about* a length in advance. Beach, however, responded, and rowed right down on Hanlan. The latter allowed his boat to cross, and Ja foul took p'ace. Hanlan put .up his hands and claims 1 a foul. Beach, however, kept pulling away. Hanlan fo}lpwe<)» but Beach came to the post an easy, winner by five or six lengths. Time, 2ft : mm. 29 sec- Th« umpire disallowed the fou! c.laimcd by Ha dan. ' • August JB.
