A SCHOOLMASTERS RESOURCE.

A popular school iti the nov'h of Shropshire rejoices in the possession of a second master of a highly original turn of mind. A few days ago one ot the biggest pupils in the school, who takes the lead in all the exploits of fresh and enthusiastic youth, was “ called up’’ for a brief interview. One of the parties to the discussion was a long lithe cane, guaranteed to curl around a follow and make him sing. “ Bend down," observed the second master insinuate gly. “ Shan’t," remarked the pupil, who was a fair head and shoulders taller than the pedagogue. “ I beg your pardon T said the latter. “ Shan’t,' 1 repeated the lad , “so take it out of that I’m not going to be caned; i ’in not a boy.” “Oh, very well,’’ said the masto , “very well; if you won’t be treated as a boy, come downstairs and be treated as a man.” lie took off his cost as he spoke and rolled up his s ee ves. T eg adjourned to the playground, and the cocky youngster, levelling in his superior build, and the diminutive second master had a set-to. In about ten minutes the master had given the lad about as a mnd a thrashing as ever he had in his life, and subsequently he prevailed upon him to take a gent’e caning in the sanctity of an upper room. There is no moral to this story.
