"University 0. 0. v. Olutha 0. 0. An eleven of the Dunedin University Cricket Club visited Baiclutha on Friday last to play the first eleven of the Clutha Cricket Club. The match was a twoinnings one— the University being defeated by six runs. Moore's bowling for Baiclutha was very effective. In the first innings for Balclutha, no one reached double figures ; in the second innings, Barlow made 11. For the Clutha team SErO. Hawson acted as captain, and Mr Allen for the University team. The match was played in. a paddock belonging to Mr
R. Paterson, Barnego, who kindly granted its use on this as on other occasions. Subjoined are tie scores : — CIiUTHA 0.0. Ist innings. 2nd innings. C. v. Kaitangata 0. C. On Saturday the same University team played the first eleven of the Kaitangata Club. Moore, of the Cluilia Club, whose bowling had proved so effective the day before^ was one of the Kaitangata eleven. ! There not being time to finish the two innings, the match was decided by the first innings, resulting in favour of Kaitangata by 22 runs. This is to be regretted, for; judging from the scoring of the University in the second innings, had there been time to finish the match, things might have worn a different aspect. The bowling of Owens and Moore for Kaitangata was really superior, hardly a ball being off the wicket. The University team, though defeated in both matches, enjoyed the trip thoroughly, having had lovely weather, and being hospitably entertained both at Balclutha and Kaitangata.
