Eight Months Baby Stands Upright
AUCKLAXD, Aug. 2. Chubby eiglit-months-old "nooky" Stott cooed and smiled at the camera and stood on the pahn of his father's ontstretched liand today. He has been doing it since he was six months old. "Xooky" has not started to crawl yet and he only sat up for the first tirn'p a few weeks ago, and has shown no inclination to stand on the tioor. But he was onlv six weeks old when he iirst sat up on his father's liand. Today he seems perfeetly eomfortable as his i father lifts him to the ceiling. The child weighs 271b — about fiUb more than the average for his age. The famlv doetor says that "Xooky" has remarkably strong back and stomaeh muscles. The ehild's father, who resides at Ponsonby, thinks that a natnral sense of balance and confidence plav an iniportant part. An Auckland specialist said today that he had not heard of so yuong a babv being able to perform such a feat.
