BASKETBALL GAMES

Two basketball teams from Hutt Valley High School yesterday visited Horowhenua College. The B game, .though lacking the speed of the A game, was ,yet noteworthy for i'ts good passing and anticipation on both sides. Horowhenua hact a slight lead on Hutt Valley throughout the game, and at the final whistie won by 13 goals to 10. Of the Horowhenua piayers, all of whom played good scientific basketball, the outstanding two were P. Franklin in defence and K. Hughes in the forwards. The A game was swift and skilfully p'ayed, each team scqripg goal for goal until well into the first half, when Hutt Valley, with very accurate shooting, drew ahead. In the second ha'f, with the visitors four goa^ ahead, Horowhenua speeded up the passing to lessen the gap. The Horowhenua forward play at this stage was out!s!!anding, but Hutt Vafiey, with a determined effort, again drew ahead to finish up winners by 14 goals to 11. N. Scotson and Maria Davis played very good games.
