Received Saturday 1 a.m. OXFORD, May 27. The game against Oxford University, with New Zealand l'equiring 164 to win, began with. the sensation ot the final day when Reid was out flrst ball. He slashed at a rising bail from Wrigley and Kardar held a magnificent catch in the gully. Wallace arrived to find the ball jumping and a leg bye gave 46 for six. There was a high wind blowing and no rain had • fallen overnight. After Cave batted pluckily for 25 minutes and had off-driven Whitcombe for a lovely boundary he was out leg before to Wrigley to a ball which kept low. , Donnelly arrived with the score at 64 for seven, and was given a great reception by the crowd. A former Oxford University captain he is immensely popular here. He began by pulling Wrigley to leg for two, then pulling Chesterton, the off-spinner for four. Meanwhile Wallace was batting with magnificent aggression. Determmed not to let the bowlers continue to remain on top he pulled V7hitcombe for three, drove Wrigley back past the wickets for three, and then hit Whitcombe straight to the sightscreen for four. After batting magnificently for threequarters of an hour Donnelly played on to an inswinger from the ieft-hander Kardar. With Wallace he nad added 49, scoring 32 himself, the majority from perfectly timed pulls on the leg side. Wallace took another nasty crack on his thumb, but continued batting aggressively and square drove Whitcombe for four. The ball is bouncing all ways on this wicket. Smith began with a rather lucky snick through the slips for three. Oxford won by 83 runs. New Zealand all out 126.
