Mr. Bevin said that he would go to Berlin on May 7 to see the air lift in operation and convey the thanks and congratnlations of the Government to all concerned for what they had done. Mr. Churchill said that the air lift had shown a method of solving the deadlock and difficulty "far preferable to some others which might have been considered at one time or another." Mr. Churchill agreed that the war tension had lessened and urged united action towards the maintenance of peace.
