Levin's Sewerage Plan And Borough Assets
"AMUSED."
(To the Editor) Sir, — In your issue of Friday, 'Apri1 4, Mr. Parton, one of thelbandidates for the forthcoming municipal by-election, is credited with .having said that if eleeted he would seek urgent progress with the sewerage scheme and protec, tion for borough assets. The only inference I can draw from these remarks is that the sewerage scheme is not progressing as fast as it shoul'd or could progress, and that borough assets are not being protected. To deal with the former I think the residents of Levin would like to know where our preSent council has failed to exoedite the installa'"ion of the sewerage scheme and in what phase of the \york Mr. Parton considers time could now be saved. r 1 suggest, Sir, that Mr. Parton had an exceilent opportunity to sponsor and exnedite such a scheme when he occupie'd a place on the council, and his remarks seem to me to savouar of an attempt to "cash m""bn the credit due to those responsible for overcoming the vast mass of difficulties, and who. now have the scheme well in hand. With reference to the proteo tion of borough assets, I am sure the ratepayers woul'd be alarmed if it shou'd be found that borough assets are "hot being protected or, alternatively, heing dissipated. Is it possible that Mr. -Parton has discovered more "municipal vandalism," which I think is the expresr sion he used- at a meeting wheh referring to the development of Playford Park — Levin's recreation spot in years to come. If this is the worst we can expect, our alarm will soon be dispelled. Yours, etc„
