With the *end of the first .rdund of the . senior divislon ' of the Horowhenua Crieket Association's ( eompetitions last week, Shannon hold a good lead over other , teams. The round ended with : the games played on Deceniber II, but four teams have played seven, . games arfu ' the remainder only six. , Ab'an'doned on accout of rain-, they will be replayed at the end of the second round if neeessary. , ; k ' The following are the points at , the end ,of the first round, the number of games- played being giveh in parentheses: — 'Shannon 28 (6), Foxton. 25 (7). In the junior 'division. the posi- i tion is much the same, except that eaeh team receives a. bye in every fiye games. The first round of this section ende'd on November 27 and the teams ar'e now well into the second round. (4) , College B 16 (4) , ' Kuku 16 (5) , Foxton 8" (6) . iSaturday's games were keenly 1 contested. This was the first S6riesv in. the second round of the senior division. Weraroa, Shan- ' non ■ and Foxton A had five point Wins over Otaki, Old Boys and Levin. . Shannon, v. Old. Boys Shannon triumpiiecl over Old Boys by the narrow margin of six runs. Old Boys batted first and place'd 72 runs on the board, with Barraud (28) and G. Sciascia (10) ifche best scorers. Harris bowled well, taking five wickets for 33 runs, while • T. Roach captured ;three for eight. Shannon's 78 was. mainly made iip of small 'double-figure scores . fcontributed by five players, Roach '(12), Pope (12), Tippler (11) and McNeile 10, while Moore carried his bat for 11. Barraud took three Wickets for 14 runs, Juno three for 20 and Gardiner three for 22. Weraroa v. Otaki Weraroa beat Otaki by four Wickets and 90 runs in a mateh in 'which big scores predominated.
