New Dominion Record Set At / Christchurch Sale •

CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 15. A Dominion record of 80d per 1b was established eariy at the first Christchurch wool sale of the seaS'Oii today. Values for all fine fleece, wools showed a sutostant'iai advance on the opening rates last year. • / The offering comprised about 30,100 bales,' nearly all half-bred hogget and early shorn .ewe wools from thfe piains and foothills.. A noticeable ffeature of thfe' sale .was the activity of local mills. The '80 d wool scamfe from thfe Landsdowne (Marlborough) clip of Mr. J. M. Sampson. It was an exceptional -lot of wool. . Six bales w-ent at 70|d, another six at 67|d, seven at 79|d, 12 at '6'6id and 1'6 at 62 fd, with seven bales at the top price. The seven bales at 80d would exceed £700 in value, The 80d ,was 14d above the previous New -Zealand record established in Dunedin last year and 16d better than the 64d, top price -at the fourth Christchurch sale last season.
