Systematic were the actions of a burglar. who in the e-arly hours of this morning entered the garage premises of Mr. P. Ward. Oxford • Street, Levin, for he first secured the keys of the premises from the owner's house in Oxford Street. It was when he was called to provide a taxi that Mr. Ward discovered something was amiss. ; Summoned at 2.45 a.m., he arose and found that his trousers, which h^d been 'left hanging on a wardrobe door, were missing. In the - pockets of the trousers were the keys to his taxi, garage and garage 1 safe and £40 in cash. Unable tb ■ open the locked taxi, he was forced to push it on to the lawn and take another car. Returning ' from the call, which was urgent, he went immediately to - his garage. His arrival disturbed a man, who was.- on the premises. The man came out of the Stanley Street entrance to the premises, ' ran down Stanley Street and , turned nortbwards into Bristol Street with Mr. Ward in pursuit. ; Handieapped by the slippers he was wearing, Mr. Ward was unable I to catch up and the man dis- ; appeared. Nothing was found to be missing from the garage.
