Wellington Pursues Latest In Hairdo's
' Wellington women may have hesitated about new fashions in clothes, but they'e showing no such reluctance in taking to the latest in hairdo's — the short look. "It's amazing, the number of women who are having their hair .cut," said one hairdresser. ' Favourite style, particularly for lyounger women, is hair cut to above collar length, fluffed out in soft curls. A" fringe or little side bang completes the pic-ture — "anything over the forehead" was worn said another hairdresser. Hairdressing salons are said io be doing more trims than for many years. Older women, _^.how-
ever, are more conseryative. They are not yet" following the American style, which features hair cropped short andswaved to follow the contours of the head. v The reasons for the short hair-' style's popularity ^are plain. "Everybody's taking to it because -it's so muoh easier to keep neat, particularly in Wellington, with its wind," said .one hairdresser. Also, with summer approaching, most women want to have their hair light and cool, and less trouble to do than a long and elaborate style.
