The German municipal electioh headquarters stated that the Social Democrats are still in the lead in the Western sector municipal elections held today, with the Christian Democrats second. Headquarters forecast a final total vote of 88 per cent. or more, which is regarded as a severe Commun.st rebuff. Polling reached 96 per cent. in the Schoenberg district, 90 per cent. in the Charlottenburg and T'iergarten districts and 88 per cent. in the Communist stronghold of Wedding. In one area of the British sector the poll was higner by three per cent. than in 1946.
