Snow Falls in Centre Of North Island
AUCKLAND, Oct. 4. Ilnusually hcavy spring falls of snow were experienc.ed on the higli country in parts of the centre of the North Island at the weekend. At the Chateau when. rain or snow has been experieneced for 10 successive days, the niountain road has been kept clear for trallic with a grader and bulldozer and ou Saturday the cross-country sld race was run on t"he golf course below the hotel. The snow fall eased on Gaturdav to be replaced by rain. Snow fell heavilv at Te Haroto on the Taupo-Napier Road about .10 niiles from Taupo at the weekend but it was not of suffieient depth to interfere with ■ tl'affic.
