Carnival Preparations
Preparations for the forthcomng queen carnival, which will ■aise funds for the erection of the Shannon and Districts War Vlemorial Hall, are beginning to ,ake shape. A well attended meeting of supDorters of the Town Committee vas held in Laurvig's Hall, and vas presided over by Mr. W. C. Higgie, the publicly-appointed ihairman, who pointed out that ,he object of the meeting was to slect the various committees and ;elect a young laay as the comnittee's choice for the Town ^ueen. He then called for nom.nations. Miss Margaret MacLean. vas nominated and elected by ;hose preseht. The officials of the ;eneral " committee were then jlected as follows:— Chairman: Mr. Higgie; secretary; Mr. D. AitMiison; treasurer: Mr. F. Edmonds. A number of committees to take charge of the various ways of making money were then set up. The meeting closed with all present being very enthusiastie that their queen would top the poll, and that a substantial sum would be raised for the very worthy obj ect.
