Former Nursing Sister Weds At Te Horo
A wedding of wi'de interest was i solemnised , recently at St. Mar- . garet's Anglican Church, Te Horo, when Nancy Jean Isabel, eldest| daughiter of Mr.-; and Mrs. C. D.j Sutton, of Te Horo, was married to Bdmund Pontin, son of Mr. Aldridgej aiid the late' Mrs. Aldridge, of | Taupiri. The' Rev. G. K. Moir,j assisted by Canon H. E. K. Fry;| officiated, ' and Miss H. Spiers was at the organ. The church had been beautifully -decorated by ffiends of the bride, Who was formerly a sister. on the Palmerston North Hospital staff. The bride, who was escorted by her. father, looked charming in a frock of cream embossed marquisette, over cream taffeta, fashioned on simple fitting lines. From the waist a full skirt flowed into a long train, her beautiful embroidered veil being held in place by a semi-circle of cream flowers. She carried a shower bouquet of cream chrysahthemums, spider lilies and white hydrangeas. ° « The bride was atten'ded by her sister, Miss Eisie Sutton, who wore a. frock of cornflower blue moire taffeta, with shoulder length veil and mittens to match. She carried a bouquet. of chrysanthemums, autumn leaves and berries. Mr. Bert. Aldridge, of Taupiri, brother of the bri'degroom, was best man. During the signing of the register Miss D. Avery sang "O, Perfeet Love." When leaving the | church, the bride was presented with two lucky horse shoes, one by her little ■ niece, Leone Sutt'on, the ! other by little Wayne Ridge. Later, a reception was held in the Te Horo Hall, which had been tastefully decorated by frien-ds of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Sutton, assisted .by Mr. Aldridge and Miss Aldridge, father and aunt of the bridegroom, received some 150 guests. Mrs. Sutton wore a navy blue frock, with navy blue hat a'nd Goat and a shoulder spray to tone. Miss Aldridge chose a navy blue co'stume, with navy blue hat and shoulder spray. The duties of to.astmaster -were ver.y ably carried out by Mr. V. J. Cottle, of Te Horo, and guests were present, fnom Welifingtonr &ut6 'Valley/ P&lmefston North, Wanganui,, , .Taupiri . and Auckland. " The guests Were entertained by solos rendered by Mrs.'S. Ridge and Miss D. Avery. Gracing the bridal table was a three-tiered cake, made by Miss Elsie Sutton and iced and decorated by Mrs. J. D. Ashdown, of Te Horo. The happy couple, who were recipients of many congratulatory messages, as well as many useful and beautiful gifts, left by car.for the Wairarapa to spend their honeymoon, Mrs. Aldridge trayelling in a wine coioured suit, with hat to match, and navymecessories. ' Mr. and Mrs. Aldridge will make their. future hppie in Taupiri.
