Among the breeding ewes were soine lines almost due to lamb. Interest was taken in a n oft'eringmf the first of the I season's ewes and 1am bs, a -pen of 14 of eaeh. sejling at 15s 9d all counted. As it was an inferior offering it gave little indieation what the liiarket for this ela.ss of proposition miglit be onee the full flow begins. Breeding ewes were in fairly short supplv and what there were met with a better demand than last week, mixed aged sheep selling at 39s 4d, six-tooths at 33s and four-year-olds at 30s. A line of good five-3'ear-oids was passed at 35s (5d. quality ewe hoggets ehanged hands at 40s ld, small sorts bringing 26s- 6d to 30s 2d. Good wether hoggets sold at 34s 6d to 35s Gd and smaller at 26s 9d to 30s Gd. Good wethers rnade 44s 3d. ! Otlier wethers made 35s 3d to 41 s 4d. j A short j-ai'ding and offering of some j qualitv lines, resuited in a very strong J fat sheep market with prices showing i a sliarp advance of ujx to 4s a head. ] Single wethers realised the season's j top prices of 60s ld and 60s lOd. Prime ewes sold at 41s lOd to 44s lOd witn inferior sorts Ixeing quoted at 23s to 31s 7d. Extra prime young ewes were traded at up to 59s 4d, prime making 44s 7d to 49s 4d. Extra prime wethers sold at 60s ld to '60s 'lOd. Prime : wethers made 50s ld to 53s lOd, medium 48s 7d to 48s lOd and uiiiinislied 42s 4d. i Medium lambs made 38s 7d axid otliors 30s 4d to 34s 7d. An erratic market existed for store eattle when an entry of 450 head was offered to a gond gathering of buyers. Puying activity was very in and out. At times bidding was strong wliile at other tiiues quite good lines proved ' ' stick>r ' ' and there were a few passings. . Bulloeks sold up to £15 5s, tliree-year steers up to £12 16s, weaner | steers £5 to'£6 12s 6d, empty eows and heil'ers £S 17s, in-calf co\vs £7 10s to £7. 16s and weaner lieifers £6 16s to £5 12s. Fomale beef met with a good inquiry when a varding of 186 head of fat eattle was offered. Quality was markedly lacking among the ox beef, most pens coming forward jnchuling beasts in half fat eondition, A better selection was seen when a few pens on

The demand was "sticky" and several pens were passed in or sold subject to vendors' approval, The lieifer offering showed qualitv, top priee for tliis elass of beef being £17 18s 6d. Pr'me ox realised £20 8s 6d to £21 14s 6d. Medium sold at £16 18s 6d to £19 8s. 6d and light made £15 3s 6d to £16 6s. Prime heifers were traded at £14 ls ld to £17 18s (5d and medium brought £12 8s Gd to £13s 18s Gd.
