Women's Institute To Hold Drama Festival
Always of interest to the residents of Levin and district is the drama festival conducted annually by the Southern Wellington Federation of N.Z. Women's Institutes. This year the sessions will be held at Tawa Flat on Monday, July 5; Levin (College Hall) on Tuesday, July 6; Paekakariki (St. Peter's Hall) on Wednesday, July 7; and at Otaki (Civic Theatre) on '■Thursday, July 8. Adjudicators have expressed their pleasure and surprise at the high standard of the plays and players in this particular federation, and the standard of the coming festival promises to equal, if not excel, thai, of previous ones. It is customary for the federation executive to hold annually or bi-annually a drama school, and this year a most successful school was conducted by Mr. Baigent, drama tutor, of the Victoria College University, Wellington. The knowledge gained shouid prove of great beneftt to the players in the coming festival. Mrs. Elsie Lloyd, well-known throughout New Zealand as an outstanding adjudicator, will ofliciate in that capacity. As the doors will be kept strictly closed during each performance, patrons are advi'sed to be seated in good time. The sessions will commence at 7.45 p.m. Doors will be open to ticket holders at 7 p.m. and to others. from 7.30 p.m. - .
