Taxi Service To Races May Be Curtailed
AUCKLAND, Feb. 16. The possibility that tlie speeial taxi service to race meetings will; be eancelled or curtailed, is foreshadowed m a letter received by the Hletropolitaii Licensing Autlioritv from the Minister of Transport, Mr. Hackett. The Minister forwarded a direetion for tlie authoritv to review taxi cab licences vvliieii give operators the right to run to race meetings at individual fares, in order to eouserve petrol during . the winter months. It was desirable that eonsideration be given to the que&tion of , wliether the service for race" partrons should be eancelled or at least curtailed subjeet. to a review in six nionths' time, added the Minister. "It is proposed to give effect to this as quicldy as possible," said the c.luurman of the autlioritv, Mr. W. H. Nagle, in moving that tke review take place in tliree weeks' time.
