All Killed When Airliner Crashes
NEW YORK, Jan. 28. All aboard were killed when a HC3 airliner earrying 28 Mexicans of the Immigration Service Guard and a crew of three crashed in flames in Western Fresno County, California, today. The County Sherili* 's. ottice reported that at least 26 bodies have "been recovered. so far. Tlie plane, which was owned by Airline Transport Carriers, Incorporatod, was on a eharlered tlight from OaklauJ Airporl to Burbank and E1 Centro", California. An eye-witness said the right eugine caught iire as the planc was 1500 feet above the ground. The right wing crunipled almost iminediato, ly, and dropped off, causing the aircraft to spin earthwards. The petrol tanks exploded just before tlie plaue liit the ground, and became a mass of flames. The immigration service chartere.l the , plane to take the Alexicans to E1 Centro, a deportation area, because they had either entered the United States illegallv or had stayed beyond the duration of their agricultural work contracts.
