Personal ^ , _ , Mrs. W. Moyniha'n, of East Roaa, is progressing slowly following an operation in a Palmerston. North private hospital. Foi" the present the family only are allowed to visit her. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. McLochlan are spending a few days in Shannon prior to taking up their residence in Hamilton. During their stay in' Shannon Mr. and Mrs. McLochlan will' be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Gunning and Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Ryrie. Also in the Palmerston North JHospital is Miss Gillian Chester. Miss Chester was a passenger in a car which turned over on a recent evening while rounding a comer near Whitanui, on the ShannonFoxton Road. Miss Chester received severe cuts on the head and suffered from shock. Her condition is now stated to be satisfactory. The other occupants of the vehicle escaped injury. Mr. S. H. Roberts, Tokomaru Valley Road, who has been an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital for the past four weeks as a result of injuries received when the horse he was riding stumlbled and itlirew him, was making good progress until Wednesday, when, due to unexpected developments, it became necessary for him to undergo an operation. Mr. Roberts' condition on Saturday was still serious. Mrs. Roberts, who spent some time in Palmerston North, has returned to her home. Card Afternoons Popular Under the leadership of Mrs. W. Picard and the auspices of the Church of England Ladies' Guild, card parties are being held every Tuesday afternoon in the Parish Hall and are proving very popular with card enthusiasts. Twentyeight players participated last week, when the first prize was w'on by Mr. R. Buckman and the second by Mrs. R. Andrew. Mrs. Trueman received a consolation. On the conclusion of a series of ten afternoons a points prize will be awarded. Afternoon tea was served.
