Sowings of wheat throughout Aus tralia for the 1947-48 season were ex pected to tolal about 15,000,000 ac re.v the highest since before the war. s"i'' Ihe acting-chainnan of the Australiah Wheat Board (Mr. W. There had been good 1-ain in most of the wheat districrs and the prospects vvere promising. ftince December 1, 24,000,000 bushets of last season 's crop had been sold tor home consumption and 37,750,000- for export as wheat. and fiour.
