CHRISTCHURCH, April 29. While the average smoker will have to put up with a two-fifths' cut in supplies of tobacco and cigarettes, waterside wor&ers, miners and othOt favoured groups will continue to r£ceive their norinal supplies. This was made clear by Mr. C. A. Lang, president of, the CanterburyWestland R-etail Tobacconists Association. Watersiders, miners, servicemen's cluhs and other groups which the Government decreed, were oh pfiority so far as tobacco supplies were concerned, said Mr. Lang. Although the output had lately fallen 20 per cent. due to power cuts in the North Island, t'nose on the priority were still getting 100 per cent on the reduced output and others suffered in consequence.
