' WELLINGTON, April 17. . The National Party will contest the Avon ' by-election, . it was announeed by the Dominion headquarters of the party today. It was stated that in conformity with the constitution . of the party, the selection of the candidate would rest with the party, the membership of which ' was substantial in the Avon electorate. The National Party candidate against the late Mr. Sullivan at the General Election was Dr. R. A. McDowell, a 29-year-old medical practitioner from Kaiapoi.
