BYRD DISCOVERS WHERE STORMS ARE BORN
Received Sundav, 7.30 p.m. NEW YORK, Feb. 15. More aecurate weather forecasts in the southern hemisphere may be possible as the result of data amassed by the Bvrd expedition. Two "birth places" of storms have been found, oiie between Wilkes Islarid and Australia, and the second near Neter Island, and 1 clcarer picture has been obtaincd of the inHuenee of polar cold and polar tir movemcnts 011 both the southern ind northern hemispheres. lu seven weeks the expedition has renapped nearlv a quarter of thfe vast south polar coastline, the advance in geography being described as "most spectaciilar. " Among the diseoveries are eiglit new mountain fanges, at leas; 20 islands, live bays and several petiin sulas.
