Sergeant W. Grainger, of the Levin Police, accompaiiied by Mrs. Grainger, has Yeturned to Levin after a brief holiday in the north. Rev. G. B. and Mrs. Stote-Blandy and their infant daughter sailed last Wednesday „by the Waiwera on an extended visit to Bngland. They expect to return to Levin in November next. During Mr. StoteBlandy's absence St. Mary's Anglican Parish will, be in charge of Canon G. Y. Wodward, formerly of Palmerston North, who has Tetired to Levin to live. The distinguished Canadian surgeon, Dr. Hugh Maclean, arrived at Auckland by Pan-American clipper i'or a three months' visit to the Dominion. He is accompanied by Mrs. Maclean. The two main reasons for his visit were given by Dr. Maclean. He said he had heard. so much about New Zealand from American servicemen and others that he felt he must see the Dominion for himself. The second reason was that he wished to investigate New Zealand's State medical services. The death occurred last week in Palmerston North of Mrs. W. Elston, eldest daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. J. Krivan, of Heatherlea, Levin. Mrs. Elston, who had enjoyed excellent health all her life and was comparatively young, was sitting in a shop conversing with an assistant when she collapsed and died within a few minutes. Mrs. Elston had resiaed in Palmerston North for a number of years, and had manv friends. She is survived by her husband, three daughters and three sorts.
