T Mr. and Mrs. Willie Ping, whose wedding in Wellington on Tuesday created such interest, have taken up residence in Otaki. Mrs. V. Tews and Miss La Gronte lcft on Tuesday for Auckland, where they will spend a holiday at Waiheke Island. There have been several staff ehanges at the Otaki State School. Miss G.-'McGreevy resigned and her position has been taken by Miss Whitaker. Miss N. Ryder has ieft for the Ihakara School. Misses Lumsden and Richards are relieving in probationary positions, while Mr. Renner is relieving Mr. Stevenson, who is still on active service. Grass Fires Grass fires of a serious nature have occurred at Paraparaumu and i Paekakariki. Large areas have ;alrfeady been burned. Memorial Gates The Native population of Otaki has deeided to erect a fence and memorial gatcs at Raukawa in memory of the soldiers who served in the war. Damage To Window Some irresponsible person or persons have damaged the large window in Mr. Brooks' shop in Main Street. Deep gashes have been made, completely spoiling the window. Bowlers At Raumati Mernbers of the Raumati Bowling Club staged a tournament for visifcing bowlers at the weekend, when many enjoyabie games were played on a first-class green. Sharp, of Auckland, proved the winner, Joe Moffit being his third. They won all five games. Clarkson's rink proved the runners-up v/ith four wins. The lunch provided by the club was greatly appreciated, while the hospitality of the Raumati 1 bowlers was most favourably commented on. With Mr. Stan Moffit, as secretary, the club is to be commended on the progress made this jseason. Mr. Moffit has had the support of a very energetic commiitce.
