DUD TORPEDOES SAVED LIFE OF CHURCHILL
NELSON HIT THREE TIMES BY U-BOAT Received Saturday, 1.5 a.m. NUREMBERG, Jan. 17. Mr. Churchill' s life was savecl m 1939 because tliree German torpedoes fired at the battleship Nelson were duds, said Graml Admiral Doenitz. Mr. Churchill was travelUng in the Nelson on a special trip. The U-boat hit the hattleship three times. Her captain was a broken man when he discovered what he had missed.
